ISLA Coffee Break – April 2025

Did you know that every year on April 26, the World Intellectual Property Organization – WIPO and the international community celebrate World Intellectual Property Day to highlight the role of intellectual property (IP) rights in fostering innovation and creativity?

As the importance of IP rights in sports continues to grow, we decided to dedicate one session of the Monthly Virtual ISLA Coffee Break to this topic. We will be guided in issues of Alternative Dispute Resolution for IP Disputes in sports by our speaker - Leandro Toscano, head of the Business Development and Digital Content Disputes Section of the WIPO.

Leondro obtained his law degree from the University of Buenos Aires, and pursued further studies in International Dispute Resolution, earning an LL.M. from both Queen Mary University of London and University College London. Additionally, he undertook a Specialization in Intellectual Property and Information Technology Law from the Catholic University of Argentina. He previously represented the WIPO Center in Singapore from 2011 until mid-2014, and prior to joining WIPO in 2008, he worked in private practice specializing in intellectual property and information technology law.
